Why don't assign ringtones work?

I have taken the time to set up ringtones for several people. More often than not, my best friend or someone else with a ringtone assigned calls and it plays the default general ring instead of the assigned ring. Any reasons why? I check after each time it happens and the assigned ringtone is still on their contact.

Have you tried rebooting? Also, do you have any apps that might be interfering?
