why dont my emails ever push ?

ive posted similar about this before but i still cant figure it out

for my gmail and yahoo and aol accounts do they push?
yesterday i had 3 emails and didnt get them for 40 minutes although i have my accounts set up to check every 30 minutes

I believe that gmail only pushes when using the GMail app - and - you have to have Talk (Gtalk) running.

So far as I know, nothing pushes to the built-in Mail app.

The 40 minute wait on a 30 minute poll was probably pathological - meaning - just one of those things so keep an eye on it and not worry unless it becomes a regular occurrence. I've had that happen to me a few times, but otherwise it works according to schedule.

The Gmail app supports IMAP which is supposed to be push.. So I use K-9 email

my GMail via the GMail App pushes instantly. I have hotmail via the mail app that (i have set) checks every hour. Both work great. If you got an email 10mins late, i dont think that warrents a problem. Especially if its a Non-push account.
