Root why dont this forum put an emphasis on the Froyo Roms

It does indeed work, even if it seems a little buggy in my limited use. At max res, the screen will sometimes stay black after you take a picture. When you go to the gallery straight from the camera app, the pictures look HORRIBLE. If you go back to your home screen and then to the gallery from there, they fix themselves. It's kind of like any other picture in the gallery when you first open it. It comes up, and then takes a second to focus. It just doesn't focus at all when coming from the camera app. Overall it works well enough to make kaosfroyo a completely usuable ROM. Thanks again for pointing that out to me :)

I am trying out kaosfroyo now - and liking it so far. I saw the warnings about the camera but I haven't tried that yet. I am liking the punctuation suggestions when typing on the stock keyboard - that saves me some annoying presses. So far it is more stable than ELB for me - I was getting 3-5 spontaneous reboots per day, but none so far...

most of the Rom makers hang out on XDA ....just need to watch both boards ....they both have there uses ..... xda is definitely more developer related ..... I use XDA and AF the most ....but also check other various android forums ...for tips and tricks and hacks that may or maynot work on the eris....

I like that too. I also make less typos with the stock keyboard. The only thing I miss is long-press to enter numbers, etc.

Try pressing a top-row key and swiping up - it does numbers! If you swipe up and hold it you get a peek at two full extra rows of stuff - cool...

I forgot to post about Froyo.

I love it! It has given EE a run for its money IMO. I have been a die hard Sense fan but Froyo runs great, on v23. Plus it gives me tons of space! I have all and more apps that I had on other Sense roms and still have 85mb left on the phone :D I know I could just do A2SD but I can/could shorten your SD's life and I don't want to do that to my 16gb class 6 card. Plus, I found apps on the market that replace the Sense like apps I love and used (agenda widget, home clock, people, bookmarks).

Same here, just staying what the game says.

Ya I have Alchemy too.

You having any issues with v23? The only bugs I have are the ones that are posted.

Wish everyone would just wipe-flash-wipe-boot and quit trying to flash over a previous version.

I'm on xda btw... user name is texanaustinite. hookem was taken.

I've been trying and tweaking 23 for a few hours now.

That thing is sssllllooowwww compared to most others on my device.

I've pared it down and overclocked it to 729, etc.. it still has a clunky drag to it that I have not seen at all in root.

In addition, I cannot get a root/su enabled file manager to remove any of the bloat programs/apps, such as YouTube and Flicker and all that. The file manager says it is deleting, but the programs remain.

How are you doing on 23? Any su issues? .. etc.. ??

I just go to the adb shell and type: "mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system" then rm -r *.apk and they are gone.

Yeah, I went ahead and started using the provided shell.. it is still a curiosity to me though why the root file manager will show them being deleted (and yes, the su permissions utility shows the file manager with permissions) but they remained.

Since I just started this I haven't used the root manager yet. I've just been relearning my unix command line which, I realize now, I missed. Perhaps it's Froyo locking stuff since much of it is integrated? I haven't really noticed it being slower by any great margin, but then I've not OCd to anything over 710 on any ROM. (Per your freezing some weeks ago)

It's funny, but the zip is about the same size as xtrROM 2.1.1, a really fast ROM: around 70 some mb.

My XTR 3.0.3 is around 82 MB and Froyo V23 is 80. Yes, very close in size. I like the look of V23 and ADW by default. Perhaps we're getting a little spoiled since there is no lag at all with any of the ROMs OC and we're picking at minor perceived differences? But it's rather nice to have so many choices.

Spoiled is right, about the speed of some ROMs.

I still want this 2.2 to function right, though. I'd like my root file manager to have the tasks it is meant to have.

I know I'm in the minority about YouTube, Flicker, Facebook, Peep and all that other "social networking" stuff (I have a phone and a car for social networking ;)).

I think it's still being cooked and it will do what you want it to. I might back this baby up and reflash XTR tomorrow. But you have 2.1 not 3.0.3. Have you tried the latest?

I'm back on Aloysius for now, having to make calls and get some messages out, etc.

But I did a nand backup of Froyo 2.2 version 23.. I'll probably work on it some more tomorrow.
