Why fanboys?

Personally, I prefer the approach Maxey mentioned, of starting with logic. Some people are just ignorant, and education works. Others have their minds made up already, and aren't open to any new information- For them, "smile and walk away" is about all you can do.

I try not to arbitrarily write people off without first speaking my mind, and presenting my side of something. Heck, *I* may even learn something- That's how discussions and debates work. If we all just wrote each other off when we didn't agree 100%, no one would ever learn a GD thing.

I agree.
If you write someone off completely then you will never learn anything.
I shrug off the fanatics that have no interest in hearing my views because those ki nds of people need to be left alone.
However, if this is not the case, I often enjoy listening to people rant about whatever they think is great because it's educating for me.

You just have to pick your battles...

Nothing wrong with fanboyism per se, it's just enthusiasm. But on some forums there are raging fanboys & brand employees.

I tend to read reviews and sites like this if there is something new. Then I'll make up my mind if I want to pursue the product by actually going to a store and looking at it.

If it doesn't work for me, I simply don't care about ease of use or bells and whistles. I don't want it. But if you have one and enjoy it, I'm glad for you.
