Help Why has my phone started talking to me? (and adding a SD card to phone)

Hi All

Recently my alarm just randomly started telling me the time when I move the phone to slide the Snooze/Off slider...it keeps quiet just doing the alarm tone until I touch the phone, then bam, robotic voice says "the time is zero six forty five" etc

It's super annoying as I rise earlier than my wife so can't quickly and quietly switch the alarm off without it doing this...didn't change any settings, deleted and re-added the alarm, still there...any clues?


It also started doing it with calls this morning, starts ringing, then pipes in with "you have a call from private number"


Also, just added a 32Gb SD card for more room for music/photos, manual only really shows how to insert card and format if required (not required), but nothing about how the phone uses the card...can I just continue to Drag and Drop my music into the Music folder and it knows to put onto the SD card if the phone memory is full? And does the music player know to look for things stored there as well as on the phone? Is it best to only use Keis to put music onto the phone as it'll then know where to store it and how to find it?


Same with Apps? If I download straight to phone, will they just start storing on the SD card when the phone memory is full?

Try opening the Voice Talk app and check to see if "Driving Mode" is on. This makes announcements as you've described.

Alternately: Go to Settings (for the phone), then click Applications. At the bottom there is a feature which says "Double Tap home launch" click on that and select "none."

I don't know about your SD card issues since I haven't used an SD card in my phone (yet).
 
The phone will not automatically utilize the microSD card unless a specific app would allow saving of data to there. Example is your camera app. You can select saved to microSD card.

Installation of apps will still go to the 2GB internal phone memory space. You may however choose move2SD that will move part of the apps (eg.. 80%) to the microSD card. It will be located in the hidden Android_secure folder which you can view via PC.

You can move your music, notifications, movies, ringtones etc from the 11.5GB USB storage to the external microSD card. Those will still be detected by the apps you are using like gallery. Do not move folders used by apps like gameloft games. I think those have to remain in the USB storage. Haven't heard of anyone moving those so guess you shouldn't.

Anyway, to move files, I found the easiest method is to connect the phone as a mass storage device and manipulate it through the PC. Better and faster than Kies.
