Why I'm returning my Droid Eris

I have to disagree with you on that I had blackberry's for years and my eris blows them away. I understand it is hard to switch but after three weeks with my eris there is no way I would go back. You should of given it some time to adjust the android platform is the future and Rim knows it!

I'm still mixed on whether I like the Eris Droid or not. I've had (in the past) a Win Mobile device (Samsung i760), a couple of Blackberries (something company issued as well as a Storm I) and there are things on both that I miss on the Eris Droid.

1) Blackberry's Bedtime mode
2) Syncing contacts, calendar, notes & tasks with Plaxo, my personal Outlook and (company) Exchange Server. (Why does Droid insist on seperate "types" of contacts?!?! Phone, Google & Exchange)
3) Mapping of Media directories so that certain ones do not show up in Albums, Music, Videos, etc. (Droid can hide directories but it breaks Evernote and other apps!)
4) WEP enabled Wifi does not remember the security token.

I love the touch interface (is that Sense?) and have managed to make the battery last more than a day by following the FAQs found here for that.

I love the ability to customize my phone.

Things on my wish list:
1) A quicker way to change themes - possibly scheduled so I can have a work theme while at work, a night time theme and a weekend theme. It would include turning items (radio, wifi, etc) on or off with the loading of the theme.
2) Wallpaper rotator - something that could change my wallpaper every X minutes - just because I like that sort of thing.
3) Bedtime mode (see #1 on my wish list)
4) Docking station! (switches modes/themes automagically)

Just adding to the list. :D

I'm glad that you are going with something that will make you happier; However, I am a bit sick of all these return threads ... all of the posts saying the same thing.

Anyway, I do agree with some points you have. The ones about having to download a task manager, having to tweak, etc. I know I am paraphrasing, but I basically agree. I am staying with the ERIS because I know there will be more and more updates to fix these issues. You just have to stay for the ride. BUT, I do understand how some people that are busier, that "can't stay for the ride," need something that works now.

I wish you the best with your mobile phones...

You don't need a task manager to make your phone run properly.
Only thing I really can't stand about the Eris at the moment is how unrootable this thing seems to be at the present time.

my eris is unbeatable.
Ah, I like my phone but it is certainly beatable, most likely by better Android phones that will come along in the future. There definitely are issues but not deal killers IMO. I like my phone and have never considered returning it.
