Help Why is my samsung galaxy s lagging?

No lag here but I get alot of Force close with stock Rom unrooted. Canadian Vibrant gt-i9000m have had 1 replacement and have same problem on replacement with the force close on many stock apps. Sending it again when I can afford to buy something wile its off at repairs. Good luck to all those with lag.

The lag is created by the flawed file system in the Galaxy. I can confirm that Froyo does not fix the lag, there might be improvements but the overall effect is minimal.

This is noticeable if you use your phone moderately-heavy, using many apps and email etc.

The only thing that has actually fixed it for me is:

1. Root (used z4root) @Market
2. Installing OCLF (one click lag fix) [APP] One Click Lag Fix APK - 2.0 - xda-developers

Whole different phone. But read up before doing this, do it wrong and you can brick the phone and you will have to re-flash etc. Rooting the phone voids warranty but can be reversed - but again make sure you read all the instructions.

i did this last night and it did get rid of the lag on some things but when i went into my bookmarks on my phone it took about a minate for them to appear so i removed oclf z4root and factory reset the phone and now they are back to normal

we shouldnt have to install 3rd party programes for the phone to work right and void the warrenty

The RFS filesystem is the problem. It is too slow.

I would not use OLFC. There are a number of issues with using an EXT2 partition running on emulation on a RFS table (fragmentation being the main problem). Try running this mod for a month after installing and reinstalling a number of apps and see what happens!

When I had my Galaxy S the best solution I had was to remove the OCLF mod reset back to RFS. Reboot. Run a factory reset. The phone was much better after that.

i cant wait for the nexus s to get released because i think thats when samsung are going to get hit with complaints about every bodys galaxy s and all the bugs

I have the GT-I9000M also and have yet to see any foreclosures on this phone. Also rarely lags,so pretty happy so far.

i've had the galaxy s for nearly 2 months with no real lag issues. mind you i found that android keeps running all apps in the background, so when a slight lag appears i go to the task manager (hold down the home key and then click on Task Manager) and stop all apps I don't need that are still running. My phone is now working without lag.
