Help Why is my samsung galaxy s3 getting laggy and slow?

" 1. Go into Developer Options and change animations to 0.5"

As soon as I do this, I assume you turn off the developers tool, it goes back to 1x, instead of staying at .5x.

Just had this issue. Tried power save, no luck. Tried developer options, no luck (But the snappier windows are nice) Just had to go to applications and clear out the cache. Also cleared data (which would prob get rid of all the saved words) and forced stopped it.(probably didn't need to) But it seems like its working just fine again. Have had issues in the past with android where things just don't work right, and clearing cache seems to make them work right again. Worked out this time it seems.

I know Quadrant scores are debatable in terms of absolute performance, but for those questioning whether power saving mode impacts on performance, I just ran a little test.

With power saving on since I switched on my phone 2 hours ago, I just ran Quadrant and scored 4234. I switched off power saving, ran it again, and scored 5762.

Whether 5762 actually equates to 'great performance' or not, there's a clear impact that you might want to explore.

Ive had my s3 since day one and not *touch wood* had too many issues with it except the sudden death thing other than that im impressed

Power saving mode has 3 settings for what it does when its turned on. One of them seems to underclock the cpu (ive read someone say to 1ghz [on global version]) so it does make a performance difference. The phone is just less smooth.
My s3 runs happily at 500mb (half ghz) for simple things and the battery lasts forever but it runs beautifuly at 1.6 :)

Yeah mate id guess it goes to default  you can test by setting them to really high. Youll really notice the difference in homescreen.. scrolling or pulling down notification bar

You set me on the right path and I think I'm on to something! My phone was suffering from the lag also. And I only have the original widget they place on the home screen, although I do have 92 apps.

Iv had the s3 for almost a week and its been fast but lately videos have been laggy, typing is super slow, and just using it in general doesnt feel smooth at all. I use advanced taskkiller and even close the multitasking apps. Whats wrong

I was having similar problems so I looked into this problem myself. Another member posted something about going into the development and turning down animation. I tried that with minimal effects. Although I limited the back ground application to 4 which is an option I'm the same area, this made a huge difference and I also turned the animation off! Try that and let me know. It also had objective improvements in the ram, I went from having 1.2 down to around 700. Phone is muuuuch faster. Like when when it was new, and I have 92 apps on my phone.

Bro's go to applications- then open s voice- then hit bottom left button which brings up settings- deselect the double tap home to open s voice. I did it my s3 is running awesome now!! Especially key board, home screen and smooth. Sorry couldn't send link cause stupid filter...

I registered on these forums just to say thanks to this. The phone is finally usable!
