Help Why is the RECEPTION so pathetic?

Did i just buy a lemon or is every triumph weak when it comes to signal.

My optimus V was pretty damn good when it came to reception quality.

All i hear is static..muffled sound...When on speaker everyone tells me they hear an echo

Love the phone..Specs..Ram..Rom..Screen size..basically everything.. but what's the point if i can't talk.

Honestly who calls anymore? Everyone texts now.

That sounds like it might be an issue with your phone... What is your dBm? settings>about phone> status> signal strength. -60 is basically a perfect signal and -120 is a no service signal.

So its bad, but that shouldn't affect the quality of the call. You might have just gotten a defective unit... I just tested and I have -90 dBm and my call wasn't muffled and wasn't echoey on the other end when I went to speakerphone... So you may want to think about getting a replacement.

I know people who only talk. My mom for example, I also have some friends who don't have a plan that has texting. Granted most the people I talk to is through text, but not all of them.
 
My phones always at -115 at my house and I'm able to make calls and still sound pretty clear on both ends..my phone drains fast though :/

Well with that bad of a signal its no surprise that your battery drains fast. Its working harder to get a signal.

See this just goes to show the signal shouldn't have much effect on calls, maybe data though, or you have a signal at -120 or almost there.
 
Ya idk why but when ppl call me they say it rings like 10 times before i answer but i answer on the first ring on my end. So my uncle was standing right beside me and called and on his end it ranged 7 times before it finally rung once for me. Sometimes it rings so many times for them that before it rings for me it goes to voicemail...

after my 4th triumph exchange, each phone i got i tested this with and every single phone does it no matter where im at for some reason, kinda lame when ppl call and dont leave voice mails and i have no idea they called. It does this in city areas and of course out in the country. My cousins optimus ( i think ) through vm dont do this.
 
I've heard that the radio is weaker in the Triumph than the optimus, but now you've got me worried. I'm usually around -70 to -80 at my apartment on my optimus. Kind of has me worried about the Triumph. Still going to get it though. My hands are way too big for this Optimus, and I want more screen real estate.
 
ya i mean i love the phone but thats really the only issue i have about it honestly. I just make sure to tell ppl if i dont answer just leave a voicemail even if its blank so i know i missed the call. It rarely happens but when it does its kinda lame. Trying to talk my cousin into getting a triumph and get him off his rip off contract phone he got.

Heh, maybe a hardware issue if your old phone was on the same carrier & had no problems or maybe there doing something w/ the towers. Could be a number of things, or like you said, you just got a lemon...

Have you looked for any updates for your radios?

Vm doesn't do updates so there would be no updates for the radio.
 
Just got my Triumph I get about 4 bars signal is about -70db or 80. As far as the 3G speedtest shows 900kbps down 600 up. Service is going to differ from place to place. On another note you can see if sprint is going to be doing any voice and data upgrades in your area by going to network.sprint.com and type your zip code in see if anything is planned in the future.
