Why is there no fixes for 4.0.3 ?

atmasters

So why is there no fixes for ICS 4.0.3 there are a lot of bugs and it is funny how we are just stuck with them. I know there will always be bugs with new software but there should be more support and fixes being pushed out.

One problem I am having is that I can not edit some of my contacts ? Is anyone else having this problem ? when I go to edit the phone just freezes.

There have been quite a few ICS updates since Bell/SaskTel released the LD3 firmware for the "M", variant, build date April 23rd.

Since there is no difference between the, "M", variant, GT-i9100M and the International version, GT-i9100, I count roughly 5 ICS updates since then.

The onus is on the carrier to take any of these updates from Samsung and add their, "bloatware", (app's, logos, configurations, etc.), to that firmware and return it to Samsung for official release.

I fear however, that a lot of carriers will consider that they have, "done their duty", by releasing an ICS version and rather than investing any further time, effort or money, will leave it at that.

The bottom line is that if you have carrier branded firmware you will need to petition your carrier to update ICS.

Not really as it will contain all the carrier branded, "bloatware", for the French Telecom company, Bouygues.

You would do better to go for the unbranded, NEE, Nordic Countries firmware.

SamMobile.

Please note the warning that I give in this post here under the heading, "My firmware is not eligible for ICS yet but I want it now!"...

"However, this is for experienced and competent users, as it is not without risk, and will void your warranty if you are flashing a firmware other than that intended for your CSC code."

Ok well I have been downloading threw Ordin but is it very risky down loading these other firmwares ? If I do what I have always done with Ordin can it still wreck my phone ?

How about this one :

GT-I9100 I9100XWLPG Android 4.0.3 2012 May I9100NEELP4 Nordic countries

That is the one I mentioned in post #6

Flashing via Odin, if you know what you are doing is, IMHO, far safer than using Kies or OTA and the fact that you have an, "M" variant which, unlike the G, T or P variants, is identical in every way to the International, GT-i9100, version and only has the suffix, "M", to denote a Bell model.

However, no disrespect intended, I am the author of a number of, "Dummies Guides", over on the All Things Root section of the forum and I never cease to be amazed at the human capacity for screw-ups.

LOL I bet you see your fair share of screw-ups. I have not screwed it up yet but I am never 100% sure of these firmwares. I am trying to stay stock as I screwed up on a root before with my Desire and really dont want to do that yet to my Galaxy. Anyways thank you for all your time. I will give it a shot and I read your guides all the time.

Well it all seems to have worked fine. I did not do a full wipe for this just wanted to see if things worked with out having to install all my apps again. Thanks Ironass for all the help. Does anyone know what this update fixed or gave us ?

Congratulations atmasters! :congrats:

In answer to your question... bucket loads!

Unfortunately, Samsung do not publish changelogs but I am given to understand, and from my own experience, that there are numerous bug fixes, Wi-Fi stability, overall stability, signal improvements, TouchWiz improvements, camera/video improvements, battery consumption improvements, browser enhancements and the list goes on. As you are coming from LD3, which I believe is based on the old LP3 firmware, you should notice quite a few differences over time.
