Why No Kickstand??

Ah, you don't watch videos. Well that explains why you never use the kickstand, lol.

I watch videos all the time. Especially this time of year, March Madness games will be going on my phone all day tomorrow, lol.
 
This phone is going to be my favorite...I was bummed about the kickstand...but I just buy the case.

I used my kickstand at work when I would watch movies or listen to pandora
 
I never used the kick stand much. Having an Otter Box case kind of negates it. With the commuter case on it makes the kick stand more wobbly than it already is.

Plus I don't watch many videos. I have a HD TV for that purpose. I use mine for email, internet and games. All of which require holding it in hand.

If the having a kick stand is such a big deal then just keep you current Evo and issue solved. If the kick stand is a must then the E3D is obviously not the phone for you. End of story. Complaining of not having one wont make one appear before release. Sprint and HTC are gonna redesign the phone because of complaints over no kick stand. Despite BS's post saying they need your input for last minute changes. Gimme a break.

Well I have an HDTV too, but not on my desk at work.

And complaining may very well show Sprint how important the kickstand is to us. There is already work that HTC is working on a battery cover that has a built in kickstand. If we complain enough, maybe the phone launches with that battery cover instead of it being an accessory that you have to pay extra for long after the phone is released.

You have high hopes. I have realistic ones. It's not gonna happen. The phones comin as is. You'll be buying the kick stand separately. I bet money on it.

Maybe so. But there is still a chance that I won't. If everyone just lets it go, then we'll for sure be paying extra for it.

And paying extra for it isn't the whole thing. The same report that said they were even making one also said they didn't know when it would be released, but it would be sometime after the phone. If I buy this phone, I want the kickstand on day 1. It should have been part of the phone in the first place.

They could easily make a new back cover that doesn't add any thickness to the phone and has a fold out kickstand (flat one). And it should be the stock back cover that the phone ships with.
 
Funny how people thought the kickstand wasn't functional and was a gimmick when the Evo first dropped, now it's loved.

I use it for streaming radio and music at work. I'd just get a case or dock. No deal breaker.

I suspect (without any real scientific data at all to go on), that we are just seeing the people that care about the kickstand come out right now. I suspect there are plenty of people that are happy it's gone. I know a couple people with EVOs, and I am the only one that was sad to see it leave the stock phone.

Well I hate to admit this, but I thought the kickstand was a worthless gimmick before the Evo was released. I quickly learned just how nice the kickstand is though after I got my Evo. I use it every night, and almost every day.

If I don't get the Evo 3D, it will be because of the kickstand and charging port. If I do get this phone, I will absolutely get the kickstand and probably won't even buy the phone until the kickstand is available.

Yeah, I'm pretty ashamed of all the crap I talked about that kickstand last year before the Evo was released. Now I can't go without it, lol.
 
Now that I look at the pictures for the kickstand, does it even compensate for the charging port being on the side? The kickstand should obviously kick to the other side instead of the charging port side.
 
I was one of those too. I also complained constantly about the overall size of the phone. I suppose I could live without the kickstand. I don't use it ALL that often. I don't know what I'd do without the screen size though. I try to use the lady's incredible, and I just cannot stand the screen size.

As I mentioned before, a dock would be a great thing for me. There are only two places that I can think of that I ever really use the phone's kickstand and I can fill the void with a dock. I guess it sucks having to spend an extra few bucks, but the lady's hookups of at cost products should alleviate the pain just a little.

With the kickstand in the pic, the charging port will indeed be on bottom. This was my biggest gripe about it and thusly I am hoping they either change it, it flips out in both directions (unlikely), or there is an acceptable third party alternative that has actually thought ahead of this issue.

I thought with Gingerbread you the screen will flip around in any direction.

If thats so then any case in any direction should really work with the charging port.

Well look at the pic. The case is fitted to go on a certain way, leaving the charging port on the bottom. You simply cannot put it on "backwards" or "upside-down" or whatever else. There is one way to put that case on and that is it. What I am saying is that I hope we have a case where the kickstand goes out the other way, leaving us the ability to have the charging port on top.

AHHH I got it now. Your right.

So bascically that case will be good as long as the kickstand were to pop out the other way.

I am sure someone with a brain over at HTC has to know that. I hope.

If they're going to sell a case with a kickstand, they should design it so that the kickstand can be removed and switched to the opposite direction to accommodate charging while viewing video. I believe Gingerbread will allow for viewing from any orientation, correct?

Doubtful, but even if this is the case, it gives the user choice. I can guarantee you that not everyone that owns an EVO and/or wants this upcoming phone wants the kickstand. I don't have any real numbers, but I would be willing to bet that most people that currently own an EVO don't care about the kickstand.

To be quite frank though, I am really not holding my breath.
