Why no love for iPhone?

Future historians of Tech will look back and call the day that Apple won their 1.05 Bil lawsuit with Samsung as "the beginning of the end" for Apple - the end of a once-great company, that allowed Lawyers and greed to destroy it from within.

No. They'll look at the death of Steve Jobs as the death of Apple. It can't seem to run without him. When he goes the company falls apart. This would be the second time and this time they don't get a second chance.

Honestly, the iPhone is an extremely over-priced, small screen, slow CPU speed, locked-down, uncustomizable POS - any mid-level Android device will blow it out of the water.
It's like owning a Jaguar - under-powered, undependable and problematic... but because it's overpriced and media hyped, it will turn heads and get plenty of "Ooooo's" and "Ahhhh's".

No wonder Apple wants the Galaxy SIII off the market...

"If ya can't play fair and beat the competition in the market, beat them in court with Lawyers!"

Well said Annie. It's not a matter of if Apple is doomed, it's a matter of when. The fact that their technology is so far behind the curve vs. Android is causing them to stop Android from completely taking over the market by suing anyone and anything that is a threat.

Imo it's too late for them to stop Android which is kicking their a** and gaining market share with every passing moment. Jobs is gone and this is now a company that is a rudderless ship in stormy seas. Their smartphone is a thing of the past and the only thing keeping them "in the game" so to speak is the iPad, but Android is catching up there too.

I was around when they drove the company into the ground the first time they ran Jobs out of town on a rail. The difference this time is he can't ride in on a white horse to save them from themselves anymore. These suits may seem like a victory in the short term, but in the end it will be tied up in appeals and get them nowhere.

Apple can forget about ever having an LTE iPhone after what they did to Samsung since Samsung has the largest portion of patents on the tech. seeing as hoe eventually that's going to be the only network people want to use, the end is coming.

Jobs himself indicated a desire to destroy Android though, so who's to say the end wouldn't have been the same even if he is still present?

Yeah I don't think Samsung would win, lte is gonna be standard now a days. Government will let apple use lte. Plus apple might have less market share but they get more money than Google since they make their own phones. I still hate em though lol.

Exactly. Jobs or not, greed is still greed.
IMO, it would be just as bad or worse if Steve was still alive and at the helm of Crapple.

The death of Steve Jobs had absolutely nothing to do with it.
Crapple has fallen on its face before, with AND without Jobs at the helm, but this legal farce with Samsung was the straw that broke the camel's back for the consumer... many fence-sitters that may have bought an iPone in the near future have a bad taste in their mouth about Crapple now... but time will tell, one way or the other.

I looked up the specs of he iPhone 4s, and its a dual-core 1ghz with 512mb ram... the s3 is WAY better

if thats the case the government should allow samsung to use slide to unlock, pinch to zoom, universal search, rounded corners, and clicking on a phone number to call. these are standard features as well. apple didnt invent these features to begin with.

apple does have more money than google(and the federal government too from what i hear) because of how they cornered the portable music player market with the ipod and itouch. that market is gone and they're no longer the only player in town in the smartphone market which is fiercely competitive.

apple is litigating for their lives.

no one should be awarded anything on either side. both companies took things from each other and from others. these cases should all be thrown out of court.

can anyone confirm or deny Tim cook wanting to call a truce?

Apple has screwed themselves by their own lawsuit. It's simple, Samsung has the biggest Patent share and if they don't want Apple to have it, it's the same as Apple suing them for not wanting them to have the use of all the crap they sued over.

The biggest problem for Apple is now they are taking bad PR over the whole thing. As far as Jobs saying he was out to destroy Android, well he died trying. Apple and their lawyers can try all they want but like it or not Android is here to stay. It's too big to crush at this point even if Apple has more money than God.

Sure it did.

Jobs was a genius when it came to marketing and PR. He could basically sell anything, no matter how inferior it was. That is what brought Apple back from the dead in the first place.

The reason they are fighting with lawsuits is because they no longer have their marketing and PR ability. They no longer have those famous speeches where Jobs makes a room full of people believe the next product from Apple is revolutionary. They've never been able to figure that detail out.

It isn't about wins and loses. It is about how the company responds to them and handles the situation. Jobs would have convinced the world that the iPhone 5 was the most advanced cell phone ever created. Apple is trying to convince the world that more advanced products shouldn't be allowed to exist.

As stated above, this is an Android forum, so you can expect us to be biased :)
FWIW, I'm not an Apple hater: I own 2 Gen1 iPads and they are good devices as far as they go.

Build quality, IMO and by and large, is superior on most Apple products to most Android products (and I'm a proud PadFone owner!).

I would actually recommend an iPhone to any non-technologically literate person: if you want something that looks smart, is easy to operate, has consistent UI's across most apps and that you're never going to want to do "advanced" stuff (like connect to any PC you come across without additional software installs, install software/tools to the device that the manufacturer may not condone, play media from a networked drive, play media in a non-manufacturer approved format, browse, open, move, or rename files in a hierarchical file system either local or networked.....) then buy an iPhone.

If you want to do ANY of those other things tho....even a rooted iDevice doesn't have the abilities of a good Android device.

As an example: my wife is pretty non-technologically literate-but the iPads with their lack of flash support and "walled garden" approach to apps really annoy her.
We've just bought her first smartphone: a Samsung Galaxy. iPhones weren't even a consideration.
THAT's why I have no love-or even particularly like- for iPhone.

who opened this thread? the one eye man purple eater did? :O now u in big trouble :O u caused a riot in here and now the mods are going to hate you! even the owner rob dosnt even like the fruit thats called apple just cuz it reminds him of the company :O go hide! change your name! bleach your hair and stay away from payphones they are all bugged!

Actually, I reckon we have a way to go before we get to riot status!

I think everyone's been pretty well-behaved considering the mention of the dreaded "i" :p

(and BTW, staying away from payphones isn't enough-you really need a tinfoil hat! <grin>)

Jobs is not the messiah of Technology, and never was (regardless of what some may think)... maybe he COULD sell ice to Eskimos, but this isn't ice - it's phones, and we don't rub noses with our wife's.
lol

;)

Well, we can agree to disagree on that topic... no harm, no foul.
And yet we agree on so much... as I said - time will tell.

Thanks to everyone for staying so calm. Now before we get out of hand, I was only asking why you personally don't like it and whether you'd want it on metro or not.

before all the lawsuits i didnt have much of a problem with apple. i just preferred android phones.

after the lawsuits, $%#@ apple and their products.

It's all good bro! lol

Personally, I don't want an iPhone because it's an inferior phone compared to what Metro has to offer - for a third of the price....
not to mention the whole legal fiasco against the apex of all things Android - Samsung's Galaxy SIII
:D
