Why unplug when done charging?

Anyone else notice that the screen on the Captivate also turns on when the the battery is charged enough to no longer be in the Yellow?

Ugh, it took me an age to figure out what was going on there. I'd be sitting here at my desk with my phone charging in front of me, and the screen would pop on. I'd pick it up, assuming something interesting was happening, only to be disappointed.

Curious as to why it does this...

I left mine on the charger over night and now that notice is burned in my screen.

Not to go anymore off topic, but I have a similar problem with burn in. If I ever miss an alarm, when I come back and unlock there is this large circular shadow (the outline of the clock). It varies on how quickly it fades, but so far it always has. I'm still paranoid that one day it wont.

Is this something I should worry about? I would hope not, with all the hype of the SAMOLED.

Mines been burned for a week now. Eff super amoled.

I notice that when I put my phone into landscape mode, I can see a line down the left edge which is a shadow of the notification bar from portrait mode (the orientation I use the most). So that does seem to be burned in. Maybe if I stayed in landscape long enough, it would wash away, but I never do. I'm not too concerned about it, since I normally use portrait so I don't see it anyway.

But how are you guys getting the power notification burned in? Do you leave the screen on while it's charging? I charge mine overnight with the screen off, and have never had that problem. Oh, and it's always at 100% when I unplug it in the morning too. It's usually still at 100% an hour or so later when I get to work.

Just upgraded to 2.2 and found that the option to turn off the screen automatically at full charge is gone and the screen will stay on until the on off switch is pushed. Not convenient as my phone is required to be a on 27/7/365. First, if I wake up in the night the screen is on and I have to get up to turn it off. I also fear that the screen might fail from it being on every night. I can schedule around this most of the time but there should be a way to keep the screen off.

If anyone has ideas or knows on an app I would be grateful.

I'm not sure but im using the Rogers version of the Captivate i896 and there's nothing like that yeah it'll vibrate and tell me that the battery is charge but the display will turn off too.

I am using the AT&T 2.2 that just came out and I get the vibration, the notification sound(neither of which I care about) but then the screen stays on until I turn it off.

I too have the AT&T Froyo upgrade, but my phone screen does not come on when fully charged. Instead of the pop-up box, it now shows a small full-charge icon in the notification area on the left side. In fact, my screen would stay off even with 2.1. I would only see the full-charge notification when I unwoke the phone in the morning when pressing the power button. Not sure why these other phones are behaving differently than mine???
