Why update Froyo so quickly? (apps question)

I know everyone is excited about Froyo, but will all the apps transfer over cleanly? As a past iPhone user, when a new OS update would come out ... a lot of apps would need to be updated. Is this the same case with Android? or should I wait?

I want launcher pro, calendar, beautiful widgets and all to work and to not be 'broken'

Any ideas?

I think alot of apps have support for froyo already.. since other phones already have froyo for awhile.

i looking forward to the update and will install it as soon as i get the FOTA acknowledgment.

you can go into the market and look at your apps and READ to see if they are compatible with FROYO. i have about 27 apps or so installed and the ones i use all the time already have been updated for froyo. there should also be no need to re download any apps unless one or more of your apps have an update.

however the best way to know is to look at your apps market page or website. if its FROYO compatible it should list it.
