Why use a proxy? Web filter proxy?

[Winfried]

Hello

I was looking for a web proxy that I can run on my Cyanogen Android phone so I can rewrite web pages on the fly.

Since the Privoxy that was ported isn't supported, I googled for more and found information on ProxyDroid, Proxy Settings, etc.

However, those applications don't seem to be web filters, but rather a way to configure Android to route all outgoing web connections to a remote web proxy.

I have a couple of questions:
1. What is the use of ProxyDroid on a smartphone?
2. Is there an alternative to Privoxy for Android so I can filter web pages?

Thank you.

I just use a proxy/vpn to be able to watch the US version of netflix in the UK on my phone lol

So there seems to be no supported web proxy for Android to rewrite web pages. Too bad.
