Help Why won't my apps stay updated after reboots?

When I goto the market, it says that I have about 7 apps that have updates available. I update them all. I verify that the version number has increase for an app (in this case, tasker did get updated to 1.0.19)

A "while" later, (edit - and the phone may or may not have been rebooted - doesn't seem to matter,) it seems like the apps get restored to their last version, as the market notifies me that there are apps again that have updates, (the same set).

Sure enough, if I return to manage applications to check the version number, indeed the app (tasker) did return to its previous version.

Is the google backup thing restoring to old versions or something? Anyone else have this happen to them?

I've sometimes had the same apps notifying me for an update just after I already updated. They seem to be the same version.

What I haven't done is checked the version I have installed as you have done so I just assumed it was another minor/bugfix update that was uploaded and kept the same version number.

I can't see how your app can have reverted to an older version if it was installed correctly, short of restoring from a backup that is. Sounds wierd.

Was the phone rebooted before they were downloaded/installed? With 1 app it all seems to go quick for me (over WiFi). If there's a handful, sometimes it takes time to go through the queue. Might be that one of your apps is quite large and hasn't finished.

No. the phone was not rebooted prior to letting the install(s) finish.

It is always the same set of apps that the market says needs updating. It is like the installs of the updates, although reporting success, don't actually take.

However my gut feeling is that the google backup of the apps is restoring old versions on top of the newly updated set, and thus I get the update notifications.
