Help Wi-fi connectivity problems

I recently purchased my first android phone. Initially it worked fine. Now I can't get internet connectivity in my home. It sees my wi-fi network, I entere the correct password, it attempts to obtain an ip address, remembers the info, then says "disabled, secured with WEP.' I have pressed connect, it just goes through the same sequence. I have managed to make it work by removing the battery (when all else fails, reboot), but it is short-lived.

Any help would be most appreciated. (please use baby steps). Thanks.

Disable the security in the router,and see what happens

Try WPa2 instead of WEP.
