Help Wi-Fi issue

Don't know if it's my imagination (or wishful thinking) or an anomaly but since my 4.3 update, the WiFi seems less schizophrenic. It seems to obtain and hold WiFi more efficiently. Stay tuned...
 
WiFi still seems improved now at an additional 2-3 facilities, and counting. (Note: this also happened after the last update, but proved temporary for some reason :()
 
I did not see his reply as an insult. He merely pointed out that many of us paid out alot of hard earned money for these devices. We just simply want them to work as advertised. We never envisioned we would need to be engineers just to get WiFi to work. We did not buy into a beta testing program l, we, thought that the manufacturer would have taken care of that prior to releasing products to the consumer.
 
And calling people who don't have the problem a shill by saying that they should work for Samsung, if they don't already?

That's what it keyed on, it's been addressed.

Being screwed by not having the issue addressed, very much open ok.

It scans and finds the routers no problem but I have to enter the key manually most times.
This happens irrespective of if I toggle wifi on and off or not.
Have already done a factory reset and no I don't have any D link routers.

I had the same problem with a new router (ASUS N66U, and I bought this to replace Dlink router to resolve other issues the phone had), and another person had posted about using TKIP encryption type, so I setup a guest network on my router with authentication method as WPA-Personal and WPA encryption method as TKIP, and this problem has gone away. This problem however exists in places where I have no control of the router.

I have a droid razr and when I go into settings to turn on my wifi, after five seconds, it toggles back to off. I rebooted the phone, deleted all downloaded apps, and then finally I did a factory reset. Nothing is working. Is there anything else I should try??? :mad:
 
I've been having problems with the wi-fi since upgrading to 4.3 :( It connects, but sometimes says it got dropped due to the internet quality not being good enough (which is a load of crap, as I never had probs with 4.2, and the router is in my office/bedroom. It also seems to just drop off without asking me (maybe a new powersave feature?)... which is REALLY annoying, as I get up in the morning and have to manually connect it to see my email/FB notifications :rolleyes:

Has anyone else found a solution?

My Galaxy S4 (my second one, as this is a replacement) is a MESS as far as WiFi. I am still waiting for the folks at Samsung to acknowledge that some with this phone have a problem, stop being in denial and to come up with a solution. :confused:
 
does anyone have issues trying to send a picture over the stock messaging program on the s4? If I am on wifi at home and try to send a pic it NEVER ever sends. Says my internet connection is unstable. If I turn wifi off then it sends. I have 4.3 but ever since I got the phone back in July I have had wifi issues starting two weeks after I got this phone. I had a linksys router before and bought the new asus router and still no difference. Made sure that wpa2 was being used then tried wpa and still no difference.

Starting to piss me off with all of the updates to my apps and just received a message today that I am approaching my data limit because I leave wifi off because of the issues with it.
 
I have issues every where I go. For some reason it will not send a picture through mms if I have wireless enabled. It does try to send over 4G as it looks like 4G and my wireless are fighting each other. I really do not want to do it but I might start with a factory reset. Just irritating that the money I spent on this phone and the wifi only worked the first two weeks I had the phone. :mad:
 
Since the 4.3 update my phone has been switching back and forth between mobile data and Wi-Fi without me doing it. When it does switch it tells me that the network connection is too slow. I got in touch with my Internet provider and they say that nothing is wrong here. This is when I am about 10 - 15 feet from the router. Any help would be appreciated.
I also have problems other places but I am home with my kids the most so that's where I notice it
 
Howdy Folks,
Ever since 4.3 was installed on my phone I can not make or receive phone calls using wifi calling I either connect and they can not hear me or vise versa and they say all they heard was beeping. If I turn wifi off once call is connected it locks my phone and I have to restart it. Any one know of a fix? Or should I just leave wifi calling off?

Thought I would post this here seeing as i'm having issue with my WIFI on my S4. So I loaded CATACLYSM 11.0 Full, after deleting my stock ROM. Everything with the CATACLYSM is working perfect except for my Bluetooth/WIFI. I am unable to enable it. I move the slider over to turn it on and it turns right back off with an error (Unfortunately, System UI has stopped)

Any thought or ideas as to fixing it would be helpful, and sorry if this is in the wrong forum section..

With more than the usual problems with WiFi I've been having since the 4.3 update, I called AT&T. I was advised to do a factory reset.......surprise, surprise. Helpful, huh?

You know it and I know it, but they won't consider doing anything about it until a factory reset is tried.

I'm seriously considering ditching the phone. Shame on Samsung. I can't see myself buying this brand again.

Hi folks, I believe I found the solution to this particular problem.

Under WiFi settings, press the Menu key and go to Advanced. Then, disable "Auto network switch."

I was having the EXACT same problem as above, and had tried many things short of a factory reset, until I came upon this setting. After disabling that, my WiFi has been solid for about a week now.

Basically I think what is happening is Android is disabling WiFi when it thinks it can get better speeds via mobile/cellular data. This makes a certain amount of sense if you think about it, but, it may not be what many of us want.

(Btw, after changing this myself and seeing the results, I did some more specific searches online and did find some others had done this as well, and also disabled "Always allow scanning." I had disabled mine prior to figuring out this issue so I don't know what would happen if you had that setting still on, but Auto Network Switch disabled. So it's possible you have to disable both.)

One caveat: the phone now annoyingly prompts me for whether or not I want to join another WiFi network once I go beyond the range of my own router. I haven't found a way to stop this yet, but, this situation is still far preferable to the constant on/off problem, so I can live with it if there's no way to stop it.

Thanks for that! I had an issue where my wifi kept turning off and this fixed it AND kept my logins saved. Do you know how annoying it is to have to enter your wifi password multiple times a day?

Unfortunately, this made no difference to the problem(s) I've been having....really wish it had :( .
 
I had wifi issues. The phone constantly notified that my connection was weak (not) and then would drop the wifi only to re-connect and notify, drop, re-connect...
I had done all the phone settings others suggested. Did not work. So my router seemed like the next logical step.
1) Went to my router settings
2) Clicked on the WIRELESS settings
3) Found the Security Options: WPA2-PSK [AES] was checked
4) Checked WPA-PSK [TKIP] instead
Restarted the wifi on my phone and have not had one notification or dropped wifi since.
I have a NETGEAR R6300 router.
Hope this helps.

My problem is getting WiFi to function at the multiple facilities (about 18) that I work out of. As I've pointed out, my home router is not the problem. I wish Samsung or one of us were able to solve my WiFi dysfunction which renders it useless.

The failure appears to be in Samsung's software, maybe it's not interfacing with the Qualcomm chipset properly because it was originally written for Exynos, something like that. AT&T originally pulled the 4.3 update, ostensibly due to WiFi issues (I don't think they ever admitted to that though). When the update finally arrived...it still caused WiFi issues. Given that AT&T makes money if your WiFI is broken and your phone moves you to network data and you go over...lately I haven't felt AT&T was trustworthy.

I think that's a stretch. No doubt, AT&T makes money when you buy another tier of data, but I have to wonder how many people really go over their limits. Is it that often and that many?
