Help Wi-fi source issue

I have a smart android TV that I am trying to connect to the internet, and the signal from the router is poor. So I have setup a wi-fi repeater, which work on first use. Now it is seen, i.e., saved & secured, but won't connect and the device keeps selecting the weaker router. Why is this? I have seen this off and on for years with Android, is there still no option to select a default wi-fi?? How do I rectify?

Delete the weaker unusable network from settings, and it shouldn't try to connect to it then. Is this one of those unbranded cheapo budget devices, like MXQ, MX, M8, could be it's acting funky.

Will try that, didn't think of it last night!!
Its not an Android TV Box which is what i think you mean by MX etc, its actually a new Smart TV running Android.
Although I believe the repeater is a cheap Chinese import?!

Does the Smart TV have a LAN input?

If so, it might be better to get a pair of Powerline plugs to give you a wired LAN connection between the modem/router and the TV.

I find that this maintains a less flaky and more reliable connection.

Yes, have tried powerline plugs, that was my first solution attempt, but the house has out dated wiring and two circuits, of which typically the TV and router are on separate circuits doh!! Next solution is to route a cable 20-25m round the house and thru walls, not the nicest but doable.

But why do some android devices not remember wifi connections, my dad had terrible trouble and returned x3 Samsung phones all which kept dropping his BT hub?!??

CAT6e cable is pretty robust; I have a 20m segment connecting my PC to my router that runs along the base of the walls, over a doorway, and makes several 90-degree turns en-route. The cost of the cable (and nearly a hundred cable clips) was worth the lower latency for my gaming. :)
