Help Wi-Fi USB Tether

Kookas

Well-Known Member
In my situation, I have a desktop computer with no built in Wi-Fi capability, a wireless router, and a HTC Wildfire S running Android 2.3.5. Could I tether my Android to my computer and use it as a Wi-Fi receiver so that I don't need to use wires or buy a USB receiver? Not that I plan to have this as a permanent solution, of course :P

Thanks.

It's not wireless, but you could use a USB cord to connect the computer and your phone. Then use Easytether or PDAnet.

The Wildfire S has a built in USB Tether solution, just change your connection type (Settings -> Connect to PC -> Default Connection Type -> USB Tether). Connect the phone to your wireless router, then just plug it in to the PC. As long as you have HTC Sync installed, it should do it all for you.

To do it wirelessly, it would use the handsets 3G connection and dependant on carrier, you'd also need to be on a specific plan for that.
