Widget Locker Confusion

I am using a Widget Locker Lock screen and don't understand how to change their sliders. One slider is to unlock the phone. The second slider is to change the volume. I would like to remove the volume slider and replace with a dialer slider. Is this possible? Secondly, if I tug on the edge of the lock slider, it opens a window of "bezel apps". If I tug on the edge of the volume slider, it opens the camera. I don't want any of these and the Widget Locker tutorial has woefully scant instructions. I added the "in case of emergency" widget easily, as well as a clock widget. Now I simply want an unlock slider and a dial slider and cannot figure that out! Can anyone help please? Thank you

In order to manipulate/change the Widgetlocker lock screen, you can only edit when going directly into the app itself (rather than from when the lockscreen first comes up, out of standby). That is also assuming that you haven't enabled "edit" mode through the Widgetlocker settings.

After you've opened the app, through the app drawer, your lockscreen will appear (but it isn't the standard lockscreen). You should be in edit mode, once you've opened up the app.

In order to remove either of the sliders, just press down on (and hold) the slider that you want to change on the lockscreen and it should give you an option window with different selections (Edit, Remove, Resize). If you want to change the app that opens from that slider, click on "Edit" and you'll be brought to the lockscreen configuration screen. From there, just move the slider to the position that you want to edit and it'll give you 2 tabs (actions/Icon). This is the part that I love about Widgetlocker the most. I use the ICS lockscreen, but have edited it so that I have 7 quick launch apps all within the same circle lockscreen configuration.

Widgetlocker has also incorporated some new/great enhancements. It's not the slider that's activating the camera or quick apps menu. It's swyping from the left of your screen (bringing up quick apps menu) or right of your screen (bringing up the camera quick launch). The apps in the quick apps menu can be manipulated and same goes for whatever launches from the camera quick launch. Since you've said that you don't want either of these, it's easy to remove them. Make sure you're in edit mode, then MENU>Settings>Buttons&Inputs>Untoggle "Left Bezel for Apps" and "Right Bezel for Camera", which are both under the Bezel Swipe Header.

Thank you Drexappeal; in the interim I ended up using the locker screen from the ICE app. It allowed me to have my emergency info featured on the lock screen and a slider that did not get on my nerves. However, your instructions are extremely useful and much clearer than those I found on Widgetlocker. Now I am motivated to back to Widgetlocker and try again to set it up the way I want. Thanks again for the time you took to answer my query. I appreciate it very much!:p

Hello again, does Widgetlocker allow for some kind of secure pattern swipe or pin? I disabled my stock lockscreen in order to add and ICE app to my lock screen. But I am disappointed that replacement lockers allow for NO security at all (unless they do and I just can't figure out how to incorporate the security). Your comments are appreciated.

My work requires a PIN, so when using Widgetlocker in conjunction with the PIN, I just disable the OEM (touchwiz) swipe to unlock and it's perfect.

Unfortunately, I don't have my Note 2 anymore (sold back to Best Buy for trade in value, in order to get the Note 3), so I can't go through the settings to tell you how to just disable the Touchwiz swipe to unlock.

I'm currently using an old Photon I own, as a backup phone, and unfortunately the security credentials force the OEM swipe to unlock to stay on (even though I remembered being able to do this on the Photon before).

I suggest going through the settings to find the toggle that can disable the swipe, but at the same time keep a pattern/pin security.

As for Widgetlocker having a "built in" addition, I've never needed it, so haven't searched for it in the settings (or paid attention, if it is there).

Hello Drexappeal, I followed your instructions and have been able to set up a lock screen to my specifications...thank you for the step-by-step instructions! I want to clarify what I meant by a security pin or swipe pattern. It appears that the only way to have security is to use 2 lock screens. The first lock screen being WidgetLocker, the second being Touchwiz. I disabled my Touchwiz lock screen by swiping incorrectly 5 consecutive times (until I was given a prompt "Forgot your Pattern?". Once I got that prompt, I was able to go into the security settings and select "none", thereby disabling my Touchwiz lockscreen. What I want to know is the following: is it possible within WidgetLocker to have a lock screen that houses a pin or swipe pattern without having to use a second lock screen for security (which I find annoying). Please note that I am not sure what you meant by whether or not WidgetLocker has a "built in" addition. Are we talking about the same thing? Finally, I downloaded another widget to put "owner information" on my lockscreen. I am a bit surprised that WidgetLocker does not have that feature. Thank you for your helpful input.:)

Yes. We're talking about the same thing. When you were asking if it's possible to have Widgetlocker "house a pin or swipe pattern," that's the same thing as my saying that I'm not sure if widgetlocker has a "built in pin or swipe pattern."

I'm confused though, about what you did. Let's just start from the ground, so that we can eliminate any further confusion:

What's available:
- Touchwiz has a built in standard slide to unlock
- Touchwiz has a built in additional PIN/swipe security
- Widgetlocker has a standard slide to unlock

What you are wanting to do:
- Have the slide to unlock using widgetlocker and then additional PIN/Swipe pattern for additional security?
OR
- Have widgetlocker only use a PIN/Swipe pattern without the slide to unlock?

Answers to either scenario/question above:
- Yes, it's possible to use both widgetlocker's slide to unlock AND have a PIN/Swype pattern (from touchwiz) at the same time. In order to avoid having to enter the pin every time, you can go into the PIN/Swipe pattern settings (through the system touchwiz settings) and make it so that the security pin/pattern doesn't activate for a certain amount of minutes.
- As far as I am aware, Widgetlocker does not have a direct PIN/Swipe pattern unlock feature built into the app, but as mentioned earlier, I've never needed that so I have never looked into it.

Here is what I want:
1. One single lockscreen
2. Ability to put an ICE widget on my lockscreen
3. Security to protect against somebody tampering/accessing the phone itself as well as the info stored within the phone

Here is what I know:
A. Touchwiz allows me to have a swipe pattern
B. Touchwiz does not allow me to add widgets to lockscreen
C. In order to have swipe pattern security, I have to use Touchwiz.
D. In order to add a widget, I have to use WidgetLocker.
E. I end up with 2 lock screens, one Touchwiz lock screen with swipe pattern for entry into the phone and one WidgetLocker screen that features my ICE widget.
F. I do not want to swipe 2 lock screens to access my home page.

I am sorry if I am using the wrong terminology to describe what I want to do. I am on a steep learning curve. Thank you for your patience.:)

If you want to have "extra security," you'll always have 2 ways to unlock the screen because the "slide to unlock" screen will always be different from the "swype pattern/pin to unlock." I'm gathering that you just want a single, customizable lockscreen that only unlocks with either a pattern or a pin. If that's what you're looking for, I'm not sure that's an option on Widgetlocker, but I did a quick search and found some that might work for what you are trying to accomplish, so I'd try some of these out and see if they'll work for you:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appershopper.ios7lockscreen

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.lockscreen.magiclocker

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jiubang.goscreenlock

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nezdroid.lockscreenprotector

The only way to get "close" to what you want to do (using widgetlocker) is to do the following:

1) activate widgetlocker and set up as you mentioned w/ widget
2) de-activate Touchwiz "slide to unlock", but activate either pin or swype pattern to unlock.
3) change the pin or swype pattern to unlock so that it only activates after the maximum amount of time allotted (I believe you can set it to only activate after 60 minutes of not using the phone).

Granted, this isn't "exactly" what you're wanting to do, but if you set it up this way, majority of the time that you're using the voice, going in and out of standby, you'll only have to unlock using widgetlocker. The only time you'll have to enter in the PIN or Swype Pattern to unlock the phone is when you haven't used your phone for over 1 hour (or whatever the max time allotted is).

What I mentioned above is exactly what I did with my Note 2, when I had it. Unfortunately, I've taken you through every single step possible. If you don't understand from this point on, there's not much more I can do to help you without actually seeing your phone in person.

Understood! Delaying the time enter a security code is pretty clever. I'll try that trick for now and explore the leads you've provided over the weekend.

PS: Have you gotten a Note 3 yet? How does one know if a Note II is "international"?

Thanks again for your great help!

Well, the "international" version is gt-n7100 (and lte international something very similar, but can't remember the model #). The different US variants have different model numbers.
