Widgets, Widgets, Widgets!!!!

Advanced Task Manager, Battery Widget, Dolphin Browser, Bloo, Twidroid, Photobucket, Shopsavvy, Pandora, Where, The Weather Channel, and because at times I have the mind of a 10 year old, Fartdroid.

FYI: There are tons of threads on this topic.

HTC Battery Widget (even though it's a large program)
Weather Channel widget
Task Panel (i don't use the widget)
Digital Clock widget
Facebook app (not widget)
SMS Popup
Android Agenda Widget (calendar)

I've noticed a lot of the widgets associated with apps cause more lag.

Okay, you use SMS popup with the standard messaging app? You might like Handcent which allows the popup notification without running 2 different applications

With Handcent, messages are still stored in the standard messaging app - it's not disabled (even though notifications can be). I found that Handcent began to severely lag for me after I reached a certain number of messages. The main feature I am looking for is the pop up notification. Now, if only there was one for emails.

I might try this to free up some memory running!

Those aren't widgets, those are programs.

This is a good point that needs to be made. I see negative comments being made in the market place when people download widgets. They are complaining that their phone "cannot open" or "cannot run". They're not supposed to run - they are only widgets! (i.e. HTC Battery widget)

Bad ratings are being left for marketplace downloads unnecessarily.

the only thing I like abut handcent is customizing my chat bubbles and MMS. If there is another/better text messaging app that does those 2 things, sign me up.

I personally love my Beautiful Widgets, Photo Frame (Android Widg) and then the Small Photo Album (HTC Widg)

Is beautiful widgets available for Android 1.5? because i can't find it in the market

Beautiful Widgets isn't available anymore. Remember that if/when you have to reset your phone. I think the ringer one was causing problems for me but I have no proof since I can't load it again.

I hate to admit I like this app as well (so do my boys). Did you get the Jingle Bell update?

Here are the Widget's I am currently using:

TuneWiki Widget (Comes with the app)
The small calendar widget that came with the Eris
Agenda Widget
Audio Manager Widget
BatteryLife Widget
The toggles for Wi-Fi and GPS that came with the Eris

I just got my Eris today and so far I like it but it's very confusing. The biggest thing that's bothering me is that every time I hit the messages icon on the home page, I get a different part of the phone, sometimes the phone book, sometimes the last message I received and once I got the Market! Does my phone have a glitch?

Are your market and phone book icons near your message icon?

yes, but i just moved them. When i just hit the messages icon it came up with the last message I received and ready to compose reply. Is this right? How do I get to all my messages from here? I'm ready to throw this phone thru the window!

okay. i just figured out that i just have to go into "Menu" and then "All Messages". Ugh. Also, can I save a single message? If I delete.. it deletes the whole thread.

You got it right ... personally I wish it would automatically go to the unread message, but oh well.

You dont have to delete an entire thread, you can delete individual messages. When your in the thread, press and hold the message you want to delete ... you will be given some options, one of which is delete. This will delete the message, not the entire thread.

You can either use Handsent SMS or ChompSMS as a replacement if you are not satisfied with the Messages app. I like handsent because the of popup notification but they also have SMS Popup that works with the native Messages app.

so will downloading too many widgets applications and music cause more lag on your phone? i synced my itunes and compared to when i first got it theres just a tad bit more lag. my question is whether upgrading to a 16 g sd chip will help fight lagging?

When you're finished reading/replying to a message, make sure you use the back arrow button to return to your home screen. If you just push the home button, it will take you back to where you were before the next time you push the messages icon. It's always best to use the back arrow button whenever you're finished with an application.
