Widgetsoid...

Newest version of wigetsoid out now, ver. 4.1.2 and works well with ics.

Only problem is it doesn't find my backups made with the Beta version. Oh well, guess I'll just re-build the widgets (which shouldn't take too long tonight).

The new version killed all of the profiles that were already setup. If you look at the feedback in the Play store, this happened with everyone. It also added a toolbar to the notification area.

I like the app, but I was a little peeved when this happened...

Yeah, I had been aware of it because I saw the warning on the Widgetsoid app before (regarding the updates that needed to happen), which is when the dev asked if I'd like to try the beta out (which, I have to say is pretty darn cool). I had both the Beta and original Widgetsoid 2.X versions on the phone at the same time, but re-configured all of the widgets and notifications on the beta and deleted the old widgetsoid profiles.

I'm still waiting for him to email me back. He's really good about responding, so hopefully there'll be some easy fix/answer to this. Worst case scenario, I'll just re-configure the widgets again, since I have all of the details for each backup, but hopefully it won't be necessary.

Yeah I sent the developer a nasty email that I now truly regret sending. He replied, and I don't blame him for being upset with me. I did check out the updates section of the upgrade notice on the Play store, but I did not see the upgrade warning.

It is a great app and I really do enjoy using it, I just have to take that deep breath and make sure I really want to send that type of message in the future.

Yeah, I hedge more on the safe side, prior to sending any nasty emails to developers.

For someone that seems like is a 1-man crew, he's way more responsive than I ever would've imagined. And really tries his best to address concerns, which I'm sure can get overwhelming.

I usually hold back on the nasty stuff, so I don't know what I was thinking. I did send him an apology, but I know it does little to erase the original email...

Ok, so i figured it out. I had profiles saved, so I just needed to reset the widgets, by using my saved profiles, and all is good. Fairly easy transition from the beta to this.

Not sure if the same would apply to profiles on the previous play store version of widgetsoid, but those of you that had profiles saved, might want to see if resetting the widgets and loading a previously saved profile will work.

You can just get rid of that pre-added one and make your own.
It took me a little bit to figure out I could do that as well :).

Nope. Can't use older saved profiles, such as 2x. Only the 4x.

I see alot of people mad at stupid things about this app, they fly off leaving comments about stupid stuff they themselves can fix in just a matter of mins, if they would just look in the app itself.
I had NO problems the first time I used the new version, although it did take me a bit to find all the settings, I still found them.
One example is the battery notify, there is an option to make it not show, and it's in the app, just have to actually "look" through the settings is all, and play around with stuff.
Another complaint was that people had to re-set up thier widgets again. I just have to say and wonder, are we THAT lazy that we cannot re-do things ONCE in awhile? I mean it took me a whole maybe 5 mins of working with the app, learning how it worked to set up my widgets exactly like they were before, and save a new profile. I mean come on, are we REALLY that lazy?:rolleyes:
I will admit the app has changed how you set things up, but is it that much out of sorts for people to ditch the app? Sad really, because if they have or would spend just a few more mins in the app, they'd find they are missing out on a good app.
This also goes for other apps as well, it seems we as a society have become so lazy as a race that if it's not instant, we just give it up, which means we miss out on SO much more than what we initially see.
Sorry, I'm off my soapbox now LOL, I tend to get off on a tangent now and then. This was in no way directed at you all, it's just a general thing I've seen over the last few years.

I upgraded and found you can't use old profiles, so I just uninstalled and went back to previous version. I love the app and widgets, but for me it's not worth the time to reset everything back up. But if the GPS toggle now switches directly on a Nexus 7, I'll probably take the time.

Must've been the profiles i saved from the beta version, because i was able to load up profiles easily. Just needed to add the widgets to the homescreen, as if creating a new widget, but in the processes, loading stored profile. I take it not many people emailed the dev to try the beta version?

I've gone through all the recent updates and, after an an initial problem of the widgets not refreshing after changes in configuration (seems to have been sorted with a reinstall and reboot), I'm now unable to create a switcher (any size) with contacts without WS crashing when I click Apply. I'm running ICS with Nova on an HTC Vivid (unrooted).

Anyone else seeing this?

EDIT: The latest update fixed this. Thanks, Jimmy!

Slightly off topic perhaps, however I loaded v.4 of Widgetsoid after deleting beta 3.x and then recreated my widgets and notifications. MY real question is that my battery seems to be last 30-50% longer? Anyone else see that? The stats just usually say all the time is used by Android OS (incl Widgetsoid). I did not change anything else at the time. Has anyone else noticed that?
