Why did she end up losing all her contacts, but I didn't, when upgrading to 2.3.3? Is there a way to get them back other than a backup? Her google account isn't even saying they are there anymore.
If you still have the old phone you can share by bluetooth. If not busted everything on old one works except services. That is how I moved mine before backup assistant was available. Maybe back up to sd a good idea too just in case.
may be similar issue to me. in contacts, hit the menu key, then display options and see what are turned on and off, you may find them somewhere unexpected - e.g. backup assistant
