wifi/3G issues

Hey everyone,
I'm new here and looking for some help on a recent issue I have encountered. I recently discovered my wifi on my original droid (I know, took me long enough) and now my 3g is gone... even when I have wifi turned off and am not connected to any network when it is on. Did I Accidentally check off some other setting? I havent been able to find a setting for it for 2 days of looking now.

Are you rooted, or running stock android?

If rooted, check to see if you've disabled 3G for whatever reason.

If not, check to see if you accidentally enabled airplane mode.

Also, yesterday there were a lot of issues with 4G being down, and lots of people were reporting that 3G was also affected in those same areas.

Hmm I think I tried rooting 6 months ago or so but I dont think I did anything with it. Is there a way to find out? and where would a 3g option be?

I should have said "If you're rooted and running a custom ROM" lol.. Sorry for the confusion. Rooting in and of itself will not have anything to do with it.
