Here is the scenario...I have wifi at work and use that for my internet connection on my htc inspire.....however at home i also have wifi but am not hooked up to the internet...i use the network at home for syncing etc...and use my phone for internet access....however every time i get home the phone hooks up to my wifi and to access the internet i have to turn wifi off......Is there a way to make the phone use the wifi internet at work and 3G or 4G internet at home without ever turning wifi off??? thanks!

I believe if your wifi is on it turns off the data connection. You can use an automation or profiles app to turn off your wifi when you get home.

Are you on Gingerbread (2.3.x). The Inspire is the US, 4G variant of the Desire HD. After the gingerbread update several DHD users reported issues similar to yours. They were resolved by either setting yourself a Static IP address or turning off 3G when connected to a WiFi network. You could try either of those?

Why it only effects some networks I don't know, but it appears to be a bug in a lot of HTC handsets running GB (my wildfire S suffers from the same problem too).

hmmm....well when the wifi has an internet connection, I want the phone to use the wifi....if not i want the phone to use 3G.....does anyone recommend a good automation app? thanks

I think you could use tasker. Set it up to recognize your home wifi and to turn wifi off when you come into range of home wifi then when you leave the house, wifi turns back on.

Or even set tasker to turn wifi on when you come into range of wifi at work. Then it will turn off when you leave work. So you won't have to actually do it yourself or remember to do it.
