WiFi Calling

Lurker
I just switched to T-mobile from Verizon. I purchased an HTC Sensation and a 500 minute plan with 2 GB data from a T-Mobile store. I was told in the store that I could make WiFi calls and they would not count against my minutes. I just looked at my usage and the WiFi calls seem to count, albeit they are free weekend minutes right now. I called T-mobile customer service and they stated that the WiFi calling used to be free with certain Blackberries, but now minutes are used. I don't know who to believe.

I do not get cell coverage at my house, so the free WiFi calling was a big deal to me. I have 13 more days to decide if I want to stick with T-Mobile. 4G seems to suck in my immediate area, so I don't know what advantage T-Mobile has any more over other carriers. Anybody deal with this recently?

Thanks

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but, the WI-FI calls do count against your monthly allotment.
I read this on T-Mobile's website while reading all the fine print when shopping for a new phone.
Almost all of us have fallen victim to such findings when getting a new phone, but, after purchasing quite a few myself,I've found you have to do your own homework to find out all the 'ugly' details of a call plan.

With BlackBerry, WiFi calling and text didn't count against you. I used to have a Blackberry. You can get WiFi calling with about all providers by simply flashing a new ROM and flashing the WiFi calling patch. However, plan wise, T-Mo is usually the cheapest.

I took another look at my usage and it shows the wifi calls as hotspot calls which are unlimited. I don't think it showed up that way yesterday which was my first day of service. I'm a happy camper:D
