Sorry for the shameless self-bump. But I no longer think my problem was caused by rooting.
I can not turn on Wi-Fi at all. I mean nada. Under Settings > Wireless & networks it reads Wi-Fi Error. Click the check box to turn it on, the sub message turns from Turning on... for a few seconds then reverts back to error.
Thus far I've restored back to stock 2.2 and completed a factory reset. This is after multiple hard and soft resets of course. With so little information provided for debugging it's hard to tell what's causing this. It could potentially be a hardware issue. This is a refurbished phone and I noticed this the first time I attempted to use WiFi.
update: I tried a custom kernel hoping that might help. i used incredikernal 2.6.32 with the Stock Sense ROM. Still same error. I really think this might be a hardware issue now.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might be causing this? Or, do you know any utilities I can use to further diagnose the Wi-Fi connection issues?
