WiFi Direct can send by can't receive - Don't get prompt to accept files

I can send fine to my friend and it even shows I'm connected to them. When they send to me it shows on their end that's its trying but there is never a notification for me to accept.

I tested it out with my fathers S3 and he gets the prompt.

Samsung Galaxy S3
Verizon
Rooted but running Stock 4.1.2

This problem has been happening on previous OS versions. It makes me nuts because otherwise the phone runs beautifully.

I developed the app WiFi Direct Friends (can't post links yet as new user, search for it on the playstore), and I ran into this problem, but then solved it. Some combinations of phones, usually where one of the models is the s3 or htc one, are buggy about who they accept connections from.

So when doing the preliminary tests with the built in android beam, I noticed what you did. One way would work fine, while the other way would seem to stall then cause an error.

The "accept connection" dialog not appearing is a bug at the operating system level, and there's nothing app developers can do about it at the moment. But pressing connect from the other device will cause the dialog to appear and the connection can then be made.

Once connected, WiFi Direct Friends can send and receive files in both directions, even if previously the devices connections were buggy. Hope this helps.

Disclosure: I'm the developer.
