Help WIFI Error...

I recently got my new phone - Nexus... Everything operates normally except that wifi doesn't turn on at all. I get an error message which just says ERROR (very helpful).
Hard reset didn't help.
System version is 2.3
Too bad that such an advanced phone at least can't hint what kind of error it is.
Is there any recipe on how to fix this? Wifi is a pretty useful feature to have...

My wife's phone is having the same issue. We got the handset protection plan from Best Buy because my wife has always seems to have issues with her phone. But I wanted to see if there is anything I can do to fix it before having to drive an hour to Best Buy? She is using ver 2.3.4. Had the phone for awhile now.

Any help would be great.

Take it back and exchange it. No need pounding your head on something that can be easily fixed with an exchange.
