Help Wifi: Error

I have an HTC thunderbolt. It has never been rooted, dropped, significantly altered etc.

One day, my Wi-Fi would not turn on. When I navigate to Settings>wireless & networks, the wifi box is unchecked and it just says "error" under Wi-Fi. I have tried a hard and soft reboot and this does not fix it. I have lurked around these forums and I have seen this issue come up for different phones but have not found a viable solution yet.

I suppose I can take my phone back to the verizon store if I need to but I thought I would check with you kind people first to see if you know of any solutions to this issue.

I had a similar issue on my TB, though I'm rooted. I would say try a factory reset. That should hopefully fix it. If it doesn't fix it, I would say take it back to Verizon.
