Help WiFi help please

My phone is plugged into my pc now charging, it is about 3' from my router and connected to my network at full strength.Yet when I go into Settings/Wireless and network
/WiFi settings I notice that every 3-4 seconds it's scanning for networks. Is this usual? My battery life lately hasn't been so good I'm wondering if this is draining it.

Mine seems to scan for networks at the same interval(When in the WiFi menu, it should do it less often when you close that menu!). Yes, it is using more battery because for that but it really shouldn't be draining it too badly(with the menu closed). Have you checked in device manager to see what else is running? WiFi will drain you battery quicker, but it's hard to tell what is good/bad battery life, as we're all doing different things with our phones. Are there a lot of WiFi networks near you?
