Help Wifi Hotspot & usb tethering Problem

I am wanting to use my Sensation as a modem for my laptop as I could with my previous HTC Hero. The usb tethering doesn't work, possibly because the laptop is quite old and the usb version is too old, although I can access my phone SD card via usb connection.
If I connect laptop using WiFi hotspot, I get 'signal strength excellent' and status connected showing on my pc , but although I have a 3g signal on phone, I get no internet connection on pc.
I am on Orange UK network.
Any ideas?

Maybe Orange has blocked the tethering function ?

Got it working, it was the APN settings. Works a treat now. Guess Orange conveniently forgot to tell anyone.

please download Active sync setup On ur pc.install it Reboot pc or laptop then connect ur mobile.select tethering option on ur mobile now ur pc will automaticaly get connected via mobiles net.download active sync application by searching it on google from microsofts site.ok if it helps u let me inform ok.bye frnds
