Wifi Hotspot Working Thru 3G/1X With 3rd Party App (Android Wifi Tether)

Sorry if this is a duplicate thread.

I have the hotspot working by changing my laptop browsers user agent. No more timeouts in the free version of FoxFI/pdanet!

I simply set my browsers user agent to the metroweb desktop-mode:
[HIGH]Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.24 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/11.0.696.34 Safari/534.24
[/HIGH]

I can use the non-desktop (normal) mode but then many sites show the mobile version:
[HIGH]Mozilla/5,0(Linux;U;Android4.0.4;en-us;LG-MS770Build/IMM76I)AppleWebKit/534.30(KHTML,like Gecko)Version/4.0MobileSafari/534.30
[/HIGH]

I am also testing this app to see if it works on non-4g (evdo and 1x), but my results so far are not conclusive (it seemed to work):
android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting

I am using MS77010f.

I tested the android-wifi-tether in my last post, and it works (use device profile Generic ICS/JB (wlan0))! I can even tether over a 3g connection. I still have to use the user-agent switcher trick, though. I don't see that changing.

Hot spot works with this app no root needed and no need to change any settings

Just an update, wifi hotspot is not working at all either with this 3rd party app or the built in hotspot. I think they can remotely disable my phones hotspot feature now. I can click the hotspot but it never goes to "Hotspot active" even though I have a solid 4g connection. My phone is rooted and I'm running ms77010f.

I will downgrade to ms77010c if I ever find the time!

Then maybe you were the only person who it worked for.

There was at least one long thread on it. People were loading prior versions to get it back.

It's not a Metro thing, my Spirit still does fine. I may actually set a record for me near 8ish this month.
