Help Wifi issues

Does atone else issues with the turning the wifi on and off.

It will turn on properly after a rest but sometimes will just not kick on.

I must reset the phone in many cases to get it to come on properly.

I tried clearing the ram as well as looking for a program to kill but I can't seem to find anything.

Yes. The only thing that has worked for me is turning the phone off and then turning it back on.

Very annoying.
 
It seems to happen for me after I've used 4G.

WiFi could work fine for a week, but if I use 4G at all, usually the next time or two afterwords, I won't be able to get the WiFi to turn on. Rebooting the phone seems to fix it.

Yes I should have mentioned that also. I also noticed r if I turn on 4g then the wifi just won't work afterwards.

The lady from sprint told me yesterday that as of November 1 they are going to be limiting the use of 4g to 5megs a month so I am gonna just stick with wifi for now unless I Really need a highspeed connection.
 
I did something like that by mistake a few weeks back but I couldn't determine the order in which it was done. I'm gonna try that in the morning? For some reason my problem generally happens in the morning.

I never use the 4G on mine and I still have this issue a few times a week. Very annoying and I doubt Samsung will ever fix it.

I think the number is 5GB per month, not 5MB per month.

I use my phone pretty heavily and my data usage is still usually under a gig each month.

For almost all of Sprint's customer base, 5GB is still effectively unlimited.

I'll try the the airplane mode trick next time it happens, but yeah, I also have the same problem. Sometimes if I go to the Settings menu and try checking of WiFI there, I have better luck than using a widget or the pull-down notification window. Even then, it's definitely not reliable and could take forever. Rebooting the phone tends to work better for me.

The 5 gig limits are on tethering, hotspots, and aircards. 3G and 4G on your phone is not limited (yet).

My phone goes from WiFi to 3G to 4G seamlessly. Whenever I'm at home or at work, it's connected to WiFi. 4G service is spotty here, so I generally leave it turned off.

Try this trick, turn airplane mode on, then turn wifi on, then turn airplane mode off. Quicker than rebooting the phone (which I used to do before finding this trick).

That's something that used to work prior to Froyo I believe it was. It doesn't do anything now. You can go ahead and try it but you won't be seeing anything that helps. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about new tips that help but you're getting info from the older days that doesn't help anymore.

I am running Froyo and this tip works 99% of the time for me.
 
I was having that same problem. Updated to the new Gingerbread and seems to have solved the issue. Been running it for three days and no problems.
 
My Epic 4G has been nothing but a nightmare since I purchased it in Aug 2011. Gingerbread has fixed 99% of the problems I was having so I am really happy that I waited. I don't have a working PC, only Mac's so I've never been able to root my phone but now with the update there are only two issue's so far I have found since it was pushed to the phone.

1) Cache building up 2-3 times during the day. Anywhere from 2-10mg's. I use App 2 SD by Sam Lu which has a widget that show's free internal memory and how much memory is cached and allows you to clear it as well so this is how I have noticed this problem.

2) There have been 3 times where my phone has locked up or froze and I had to pull the battery and reboot to fix it. The 3rd time I went to unlock my phone and it was shut off. Hitting the power button rebooted the phone like I had powered the phone down. Not sure what's causing that but I hope they come up with a fix or update if that's a problem others are having.

Outside of those two issue's the phone seems to be booting faster, running faster and smoother and is more stable. As with everything else, I'm sure in time I will want to be able to root my phone so I hope someone develops a simple true "One Click" app that will allow you to root directly from the phone similar to how z4Root worked. There doesn't seem to be much support for rooting on a Mac so unless I can get access to Window's system software for my dead PC I will have to wait.

It'd even be better if we can get ICS pushed to our phones by 2013 based on Sprint's history for sending updates but I have very little expectations that we'll be getting that since the Epic 4G seems to be on the End Of Life shelf.
