Help wifi = no more push notifcations?

hi everyone, i know this has been done before but no one has offered a solution in the last few months..

when my wifi is on, my push notifications are practically nonexistent. the second i go back to 3G, bam, i get everything all at once.

clearly this is something that is frustrating because wifi is a lot faster, and helps my battery life - anyone know why?
