Help WIFI not working (LG ESTEEM)

Hi everyone, i started having problems with my wifi yesterday, im not able to connect via WIFI. Everytime i try to scan for wifi spots my phone freezes for about 1 minute and i get an error message: Activity WIFI settings (in application settings) is not responding. Ive tried turning my phone off and on and the same problem keeps persisting. I have wifi set up at home and my phone would automatically connect to it, now nothing. Any help would be much apperciated. My phone is NOT rooted at all, and i have not downloaded any recent apps.

It's not rooted, so still on the stock ROM? Did you do anything that might've caused this?

Try to have "forget" each remembered spot that you have it set to automatically log into. If that doesn't work then as N4zty said reset-just make sure you backup your contacts to your sd prior to. All your apps that you downloaded will still show on the Google Play store.
 
How do i reset back to factory? Before i do this should i move all my pictures and videos, apps, contacts to my external memory card? Thanks everyone for your input.
