Help wifi notification

Hi

i have just turned on wifi but im not getting the wifi symbol at the top of the screen.

I am running on V2.3.6 KK5.

Is there a way to show this?

have you actually connected to your router?
the symbol wont appear until you do.

no i have not, i thought that if you turn wifi on the symbol would appear at the top, likewise when you connect to mobile internet, you heg H ro 3g etc.

Im sure this used to work on my HTC desire.

Are you saying it will only now appear when i am connected to a wifi network?
