I just got off a flight that had free WiFi. I'm wondering if anybody has had problems with this before. I was connected and had a strong signal however I wasn't able to use the internet without being connected to a mobile network. Did I have a wrong setting?

I too had a flight where there was in-air Wifi. However, it wasn't free. It was pretty expensive for the 3 hour flight that I had. I was on a Delta flight.
I was flying virgin airlines. It was free. I tried airplane mode both on and off. I wasn't able to connect to the internet even though I we connected to the wireless signal.
