Help WIFI options?

Newbie Question: I am with and want to stay Verizon. I want to get one of the new Droid 4G phones (Bionic?), this will b a first for me.

My question is can I have control of the data usage with Wifi as my choice and then 4G when not at home or the office?

The android platform gives you control on whether or not you want to have Wifi and/or 4G connected. I usually keep mine off unless I need them seeing as they kill you're battery fairly quickly.

As for monitoring your data usage, there are plenty of apps that can be downloaded to help you keep track of your data usage. A quick search on these forums and I came across a few: 3G Watchdog, NetCounter, and NetSenty...
