Help wifi problem

hello guys
i've just got htc desire that's running 2.3.3
i try to connect it to my wifi network but i just doesn't find it, yet i found the nighbours networks... i tried to change the security type yet no luck it just can't see it .... btw my network is laptop based, i mean that i used my laptop to creat it and not a router
and does having a static IP have anything to do with it ?

If you're using your laptop to create it, that'll mean it's classed as an adhoc network. Unfortunately, they're not supported by the version of Android running on your handset. At present, the only way you'll be able to do it is running a custom ROM that supports adhoc networks, sorry.
