Help Wifi problem

Hello. I just got my Galaxy Y today from the store, they said they just got them a few days ago and it seems it's with Android 2.3.6.

I have not touched any settings or such before trying it. So I went at the school and when it scanned it found the TP-LINK thing and connected succesfully, got me the IP address and all that and the signal bar says good, yet when I try to enter a page or something else it says it can't connect and that I need to check settings. Is this a problem from my phone or there's something I have to do? :eek:

I have unchecked the packet data thing from SIM card btw before doing that.

Install wifi manager from market...If there it s not connecting,rebppt ur phone
 
While walking around the street today it came to my mind to test if there is WiFi signal nearby, so i scanned, found one, connected and website access worked!

I hope WiFi Manager can solve the school problem. :/
 
dude even i was facing the same problem...
but i solved it...what i did was--
1.Reset the phone using code *2767*3855#
2.After resseting when the phone starts it will ask you to register your phone with google account.SO WHAT I DID WAS JUST PRESSED SKIPP BUTTON AND I SKIPP REGISTERATION PROCESS..THATS IT WHAT I DID.
3.When the phone started i switched on wifi enter its security code and now i was able to connect to internet...
remember to skip registeration process coz that is imp...
