Help Wifi-problems Official Froyo

trmzu

Newbie
I upgraded about a week after the Official 2.2 Froyo came out. Everything worked fine until recently.

Problem:
1. My phone won't connect to any wi-fi network. It gets stuck on Obtaining IP address and then just disables the connection.
2. I need a solution that doesn't require me changing the wi-fi settings on the network. I have no problem messing with the setting at home, but I can't adjust my school's wi-fi settings or any other of my friend's places.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I've seen this problem coming up more frequently on various boards. I also had this problem, but it was reversed. Could not get a connection at home, but could everywhere else. This also happened after the 2.2 update.

2 solutions:
1. Open up app "Allshare", don't know why this works, but it seeems to reset WiFi. This did not seem to be a permanent fix for me. Every time I wanted to connect I first had to open Allshare.

2. Download an install free app from Market "FXR WiFi fix and rescue. It looks like this re-initalizes the WiFi settings. I ran it once and have not had any problems with Wifi in the last week.

I have seen other post talking about rooting and deleting a file, but I think FXR deletes this file for you.

Good Luck!

Would FXR address an issue I have, that being about half the time my WIFI won't connect to my home network without manually being started via the settings menus or shutting off and turning on the WIFI via the notification bar menu?

I downloaded FXR but hesitate to use it when the first screen cautions you to use the program only as a last resort.

I can't really help much, but so far I haven't had problems with it since. I think it is meant to fix a connection error problem. For example, if you tried connecting and then it said "connection failed."

I'm not sure what can go wrong, but I'll let you know if it causes any problems for me.

DynaBlue, I also have your problem and FXR did not help me at all.

I think this fixed my Wifi issue. I have my Wifi turn off during a phone call because I am connected to Bluetooth devices a lot and the sound quality it better on the Bluetooth device. I had a problem that when the call was over, even though the Wifi turned back on, it was unable to turn back on without shutting off a few seconds later. So after the first phone call of the day my phone wasn't using Wifi anymore.

Used FXR Wifi Fix and Rescue and I haven't had the problem since.

I am rooted with stock froyo. I came home from work one afternoon and could no longer connect to my wireless network.
Tried both solutions stated above with no luck. Factory reset did the trick.
