Help WiFi scanning, scanning, and scanning...

So my WiFi just says scanning over and over again but doesnt connect to my network. Ive tried restarting it, taking out the battery, deleting my network then adding it back on but it just says out of range and scanning. It can not be out of range because my router and modem are like right there.

Please help!

Yeah, Im on the stock OS bc Im afraid I'll do something wrong if I try to root lol.

Downloaded Android Assistant and cleared my cache. Did nothing for my WiFi.

Downloaded Restart Connections. Did nothing for my WiFi.

Downloaded Hidden SSID Enabler. Did nothing for my WiFi.

Unplugged my router and modem. Did nothing for my WiFi. (the WiFi on my laptop works)

Hope this helps...

If it's not picking up any wifi networks it's possible you have a bad wifi antenna/ radio in your phone. You can always get a replacement from VM.

I would try a factory reset.

I would also try resetting the router.

If it still doesn't work, I would guess that the phone is defective and you should do what marc said and call about a replacement.

Ok so now it goes from Connecting to Scanning to Disconnected. My network is remembered and it says signal is Good. What is going on???

For the factory reset, do I need to leave my SD card in? I dont want all my pics and stuff to be deleted...

Try resetting the router first. Not just shutting it off and on but resetting it through the admin stuff.

I rebooted the router (that was all I could find on the Netgear page) and it still goes from Connecting to Scanning to Disconnected. Network is still remembered and signal is Good.

In your router, give your phone a static ip address and also give it the phones mac address (depending on if your router is capable of it), reboot both the router & phone

Also are you 100% absolutely sure you are putting in the right password? I have had that problem where it wouldn't connect because the pass was wrong.

Marc- I am definitely putting in the right password, Ive checked it every time.

Piper- the Wifi finder app found places like McDonald's and Starbucks but not mine and the analyzer one didnt do anything. OK so I gave my phone an IP address. I think. I went under address reservation, put in a IP address, gave it a name and put in my MAC address and nothing happened. But before I did that, on my phone I put in an IP address I found on the router main page, a gateway address, netmask address, and a DNS1 address and it said connected on my phone but no internet. And now every time I try to click my wifi, it just force closes.

Did I break my phone? Sorry Im not technologically savvy :(

What password protection are you using? Maybe it's not supported on the MT? Sorry I'm trying to help, just thinking of possibilities as I've never had any problems...

Marc- WPA-WPA2 PSK. My WiFi worked this morning but then it stopped while I was listening to Pandora around noon. Ive never had any issues with it. Ive had the phone since December and nothing was wrong with it!

Thanks for all your help everyone!

Oh so I ran a WiFi diagnostic test dialing in *#*#372#*#*, it says FQC program at the top, and it said "No available OPEN Access Point found. Test Fail." I dont know what that means or if it's even helpful.

I had a similar problem a day or so ago. Full reboot of my phone, turned off 3G/GPS, forgot network and readded it. You might want to try downgrading the security and see if that helps.

WPA/TKIP (as opposed to WPA/AES) security setting seems to settle the issue on many Motorola devices.

Also, depending on how crowded the area where your wifi network is, a change in the actual channel the router is using can sometimes bring some stability back to the connections with your device.

I would make it easier on yourself and just get a replacement. I have Wpa2 Aes/Tkip and my wifi works fine.

Edit: Sorry didn't see your previous post. :(
