Help Wifi stuck on "obtaining IP address"

try to "forget network" on your handset. then re scan for it.
try again.

did you leave the battery out for at least 2 minutes?

are you rooted? (didnt answer that one. :) )

No, I'm not rooted. I did another full shutdown and waited a bit before powering back on. It's working again. Thanks for your help.
 
as this thread may suggest, it happens occasionally. ive not had it happen on the 3D as of yet myself. just chalk it up to another glitch/tangle that a battery pull should remedy...
 
Ok I have run into this a few times and here is how I fixed it:
1) on my router I reserved my 3VO an IP address
2) I rebooted my router and turned my phone's wifi off
3) I turned my wifi back on and it connects fine
Now on occasion it does happen again but now simple router reboot fixes it every time. I think some glitch with the 3VO messes with DHCP.
 
I was having this same problem and i looked all over the internet. I finally found a story of a guy who had this problem and i followed his instructions and fixed the bug. Turn off your Wifi, Turn on your Static Ip (Found under advanced Wifi Options) and fill out all the feilds ( Ip Address, Gateway, Netmask, DSN1 and DSN2) This can be found by going to your 'start' button on the computer, selecting 'Run..', type in 'cmd' and enter, Then type in 'ipconfig/all' and enter. After that turn your wifi back on and you should be set. The guy stated that he was able to turn off his Static IP after and it continued to work, but when i tried it i had to re enter all the Static ip info.
 
I found out that at one time or another, almost all device will most likely suffer a Wi-Fi connectivity problems. My wireless internet will be working fine today and come tomorrow it just stop silly. And it doesn't matter what troubleshooting steps i do - most times it just doesn't help. Then all of a sudden it starts to work again -- really strange thing this is.

I've tried disconnecting / connecting from the Sprint network which usually works for me, but lately doing so and/or a reset don't seem to have much affect anymore. When it's not one thing its another - you just can't win.

Not sure if you have this fixed or not .. I have a Prestigio Pro on Android 4.0.3, Had exactly the same issue with a Netopia router, kept hanging "obtaining IP address" and couldn't set a static IP

Found a page mentioning to use the WEP Key in all CAPITALS .. seemed crazy .. but it worked and connected fine ...
Might be a long shot but sorted it for my WIFI

I am having the same with my phone stuck on obtaining IP address. My Wifi connection at home to my laptop is fine, but my phone won't connect to my home wifi. So that can't be a router issue can it? Also my phone will get other wifi when I am out and about in town? Why not at home?
After playing around in the advanced settings I clicked the DLNA auto-IP to turn on and my Wifi works now at home. Anyone know why this works and if it is ok. Because this post scares me a bit because he said to make sure it is off. I just want to know if the DLNA is bad? uses more data? whats the point? and why did it work?

Yeah, the browser authentication thing only works once connected - and often the HTC browser won't work for that, but Firefox will.

Ok - settings, Wireless & networks, Wi-Fi settings, Menu button, Advanced, click on Best Wi-Fi performance - scroll to bottom, uncheck DLNA auto-IP if on.

I'm not much more than a n00b (if any :p), but DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) is simply a method of all (so equipped) multi-media devices the ability to connect to each other (play music from your phone to stereo, or movie to your TV). Having it enabled isn't going to increase your exposure to malicious entities (significantly, anyway).
I don't understand why it's now working unless there was something in the phone cache that was borked and was causing issues with wi-fi connectivity in general. With it working at home, now, I would imagine all is well elsewhere, as well.

When I had this problem. I set a static IP. But could weeks later That Stop working so I brought a new router and everything is fine now. I needed a new router anyway
 
I have the same problem with the Wi-Fi on our local buses, but only on the new buses they just got with 2.4 and 5ghz connections. I can connect ok on the older buses
