Root WiFi Tether App Not Broadcasting

Whitechapel

Newbie
Hey guys,

I downloaded and installed the WiFi Tether beta found here, android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting I set up the SSID name and a WEP password, but it's not broadcasting. Neither me nor my roommate can see it. I even tried connecting to it manually through my laptop just incase the SSID wasn't being broadcasted for whatever reason, but no luck there. I looked through the settings and it literally looks like there isn't much to set up. I was wondering why this is happening? I'm rooted and using Cyanogenmod 7 on an original Droid.

I tried Barnacle before, same issue.

When I edit the menu under settings and select (Re)-Install binaries/configs I get the following error: "Couldn't install file - /data/data/com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether/bin/dnsmasq"

How can I fix that?

Edit: I fixed it. It was because it was tethering when I tried to do the above post. I stopped it, and then ran it and it installed. Still not seeing the SSID being broadcasted though! I'm using Windows 7 and my roommate is using a Mac (neither of us can see the broadcast).

It ended up being a problem with the beta, I installed v2.0.7 and it worked! Even WEP works fine with it. So anyone else with this problem, make sure you get the latest stable and not the beta. GL!
