Root WiFi tether for rooted 2.2

Thanks for the comment. The download speeds have much less degradation than the phone itself but the upload speeds are really horrible (at least based on speedtest.net) compared to the phone speedtest.

My EVO is connecting at about 2mbs down on 4G but when I connect my ipod touch using wireless tether, I am only able to get speeds like 150kbs down. It is really slow. I am using Fresh rom 3.3.0.1 and wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre9. What can I do to improve my connection speed?

Thanks.

How is this supposed to work?
I assume you start the app and then it would show up as a wireless network?
I don't see it listed as one from my laptop.
I tried pre 8 and 9.

Once you're in the app you have to tap the center image for start the tether. Once the tether is up and running then you should see a wireless connection called Android Tether.

How do i change the name from Android tether to something else and also how do i set a passcode so no one i'm not aware can jump on it. Thanks

I'm using pre-11 on 2.2 and Windows 7, so far so good. pre-8 worked fine on my 2.1 root but when I switched to 2.2 my laptop still saw the connection but couldn't connect to it.

Speeds are only slightly better than PDAnet... 1.12 down/.51 up (3G)
I did hit 1.56 down once with the wifi tether.
