Root Wifi Tether - Need Netfilter Kernal? Recommend me a ROM & KERNAL pls

I bought the TB on Friday...then got the OTA update immediately thereafter.
Then I just got it rooted today. Installed rom manager.

I installed the "Wireless Tether for Root Users"
but it looks like I need a "Netfilter" Kernal.

Could someone provide some ROM & Kernal recommendations?

I would like (importance in order):
1. Fast and reliable wifi tether.
2. Better Battery Life.
3. Gingerbread (preferably).

I spent 2 hours researching and couldn't pull the trigger on anything.
Please help. Thanks.

if you can live without sense,CM7 fits all 3 of your ciriteria the best.

there are a coupl of other AOSP gingerbread roms that are prolly as good,or at least getting close... OMFGB and "liquid thunderbread"

if you gotta have sense, hopefully some of those folks can chime in,but i have run bamf, gingeritis, and th3ory4.5.1 and liked them all. but i run a sense rom with adw launcher and remove as many sense things from it as i can ;)

but the leak sense build generaly get bad battery life, and dont seem as snappy for me. stock sense roms are a complex animal-huge footprint in memory and large, complex frameworks.

check out the newly updated thunderbolt rom list sticky for some links :)

Do you have any screen shots of cm7? I may give it a go

1. If I don't like the Rom and kernel would I just use Rom manager to revert back to a Rom backup that I created? Would that work?

2. There seems to be different options for radios how do I know which to use?

3. To update the rom and kernel would I put zip file in root of SD card with name pe05img and run it in thebootloader?

I would advise not using ROM Manager for anything. Do everything manually in recovery.

If you want to run any of the GB sense ROMs you will need to use the MR2, MR2.5 or 627 radios. Radios link

To flash a ROM you don't rename the file, you go into recovery and insyall file from SD>chose file from SD then navigate to where on your SD it's saved. You do the same for a Kernel. Make sure you do a full wipe before flashing any ROM in recovery.

I don't know if I'm trouble or not....

I wiped/clear data cache etc. in clockwork recovery.
Installed the LTBv2.2 ROM and then imoseyon_leanKernel_v3.4.0GBtest KERNEL.

And then booted into bootloader and updated radio MR2.5....

restarted it and now i'm on the HTC BOOT Screen for the past 10 minutes.....

what do I do??? is it supposed to take this long???

i checksum the data to make sure they were correct and not corrupted as well.

I'm kinda panic-ing....what do I do? take out the battery or is it suppose to take this long for it's initial run?

IF i went to CLOCKWORK Recovery to restore backup i did earlier....does that put
rom/kernal/radio back to the way it was?

No it didn't....i wiped everything again....

Reinstalled the rom and kernal

and trying MR2 instead of MR2.5....I am hoping this works....?

If i restored back to the original rom and kernal with my backup in clockwork recovery...., where can I find the original Radio to flash back?

Yes stock rooted

I'm kind of confused about something here. Even if you flash the wrong radio, IE; GB radio on froyo it will still boot, you'll just have no signal.

You've rewiping everything, correct? Try flashing LTB 2.2 again and trying the mr2.5 radio again and see if it boots.

edit: my hunch is that you didn't let it sit long enough.

I'm gonna keep the radio at MR2 and then restore to stock rooted rom/kernel to see if it boots...so if i do that it should at least boot....

Sweet i'm not in panic mode anymore...............Thank you WORM, i'm gonna wipe again and try.......man i thought i bricked this thing

Oh, man, I wish you would have said you thought you were bricked. I could have told you from the get go you were fine :) This is nothing we can't fix

It now loads LTB 2.2....the problem was the kernel....i installed the kernel right after i installed the LTB2.2 zip..

Either the kernel doesn't work or I shouldn't have installed it one right after another...is my conclusion

Ok good. I'm not sure about the kernal as I flash a ROM then the Kernel right after then reboot. I just think you didn't let it boot long enough. It doesn't matter at this point though. So everything is working properly and you have cell service (on the correct radio)?

i used MR2 radio, and only 1X shows up....no LTE or 3G and i checked the network settings....hmmm

Give it some time, it should come on. Just an fyi the mr2 radio isn't as good as the 2.5 and nowhere near as good as the 0627r which was just released. Now that's you're calmed down and not thinking you bricked your phone I would recommend flashing the 0627r. You don't have to if you don't want, I just never had luck with either the 2 or 2.5, but am having incredible success with the 0627r
