Root wifi tether

i'm rooted now and the main reason to do so is for the free wifi but the wifi tether app keeps giving me an can't connnect error. Has anyone had this issue? If so how do you fix it?

Are you still on ics or a jb rom? A lot of problems lie in what your profile is set to in the settings.

Wifi Tether is broken on JB ROMS as far as I know. Multiple people on XDA have experienced this, including me

im still on ics sprint stock FI27, what settings need to be changed? that was the main reason for the root

What profile is set for it?

Make sure mss clamping and routing fix is checked as well.

Try "auto", if that doesn't work, scroll down and select "Samsung Epic 4g Touch" and try again

thanks, tried both but it still tell me, tethering started with errors, please check show log.....this is frustrating. i never had the problem when i was on the evo!

Hmm does it give you option to choose generic wlan1?

When I had my s2 I never used the Wi-Fi tether, but I've thought if all the trouble shooting I can think of, so there very well may be a bug preventing epic touch from connecting.

If I can think of another trouble shooter, I'll come back.

I just did this and it started working again for me.

Go to settings -> setup method -> and choose Netd

I didn't use it on my Epic, but works like a hitch on my s3, tw and aosp both

yup, tried this before my phone messed up and it worked

I am still on FI22 Boost Mobile with AGATS FI27 Kernel v0.6.8 and this all (the links and settings), worked for me. "Thank You" to all involved for the info and dev work, here and at XDA. I was worried after the prevail was bricked, but this SGS2Touch is much better, well it thinks it's the prevail, anyway. And I have tether again. By the way, it works even when mss clamping says failed in the log. I just have to wait a few extra seconds for the drivers to kick in before the desktop see's the phone.
