Help Wifi tethering to PS3 not working properly

Trevor Philips

Android Enthusiast
I remember back around March, i was able to use my PS3 using tethering and getting NAT Type 3... but now im getting NAT Type 2 which should be a good thing i suppose but when i get to the part of testing the internet connection, it gives me this result

Obtain IP Address: Successful
Internet Connection: Successful
PlayStation Network: Successful
UPnP: Not Available
NAT type: Type 2
Connection Speed (Download): Failed
Connection Speed (Upload): Failed

Since the test fails, i can't do anything that needs internet. I can connect to PSN but i can't download updates to a game, use the browser or even use Netflix!... Does any one have any idea why this is happening? What can i do to get NAT Type 3 again?

The "NAT type" is determined by the ports you're forwarding through the tether to the PS3. Evidently that's changed and the PS3 can't see the incoming ports it needs.
